Northeastern University’s (NU) College of Business Administration hosts the first International Business Case Competition held by Northeastern University and the Consortium of Undergraduate International Business Education (CUIBE)
The first “NU-CUIBE Case Competition” took place in Boston, Massachusetts on November 4 – 6, 2010. It was organized by the Northeastern University College of Business Administration (CBA). The NU-CUIBE Competition was the first such meeting of undergraduate students from leading business schools with programs emphasizing international business.
The NU-CUIBE International Business Case Competition brought together students and advisors committed to international business education for three days of exchanging ideas. The culminating event was the analysis and presentation of the international business case, “SZLN: Acquiring PEM,” by sixty students from fifteen teams with an audience of judges from Boston area businesses who chose the top four teams. Throughout the competition, the judges did not know the institutional affiliation of the participating teams.
Northeastern University would like to congratulate the competition’s winning teams from the University of Southern California (first place), the Ivey Business School (first runner-up), San Diego State University (second runner-up), and New York University (third runner-up). Special thanks go to 32 judges who volunteered their time on Saturday to make this session possible. The success of the event was due to the combined efforts of Northeastern University’s College of Business undergraduate business program staff and of CBA students, members of the Northeastern University Huntington Management Consulting Group, and the Northeastern University Bachelor of Science International Business program.
Twelve of the participating teams were CUIBE members that have undergraduate degree programs emphasizing international business studies: American University (Washington, D.C.); Brigham Young University (Utah); Bryant University (Rhode Island); Florida International University; George Washington University (Washington, D.C.); Loyola University New Orleans; Northeastern University; San Diego State University (California); University of Hawaii, Manoa; University of Memphis (Tennessee); University of Richmond (Virginia); and Washington State University. The three other participating schools also are recognized for the high quality of their undergraduate international business studies: New York University; Richard Ivey School of Business (University of Western Ontario, Canada); and the University of Southern California.
