Thomas Ackerman Finance and Accounting Major Class of 2012

Tom Ackerman is a junior at Northeastern University, majoring in business. He is scheduled to graduate in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration that includes concentrations in Finance and Accounting. Prior work has been with General Electric and Credit Suisse. While at GE, Tom was employed in the Aviation department on military jet engine projects. Some responsibilities included supporting processes to recover costs on damaged parts, monitoring depreciation, cost reduction and developmental program expenditures, as well as maintaining account reconciliations. At Credit Suisse, he was a member of the HOLT sales team. Tasks included conducting fund research and holdings analysis, generating presentations for the team, and writing company commentaries based analysts’ forecasts and HOLT estimation metrics. These invaluable experiences granted practical and in-depth knowledge of financial analysis and the equity market.
Tom's future interests are in finance. Armed with his Northeastern degree, he plants to pursue a career at an investment bank or a hedge fund. Tom is continuously searching for new opportunities that are both unique and challenging, such as spending the summer of 2010 studying at the London School of Economics. For the summer of 2011, Tom will be part of the summer analyst program at Goldman Sachs in the Global Investment Research Division.

Stefanie Barron Accounting and Marketing Major Class of 2012

Stefanie Barron is from Princeton, New Jersey. She is dual concentrating in accounting and marketing at Northeastern University, with an expected graduation date of May 2012. She spent her first year of college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, but decided to transfer to Northeastern as a sophomore. For her first co-op, she worked in the corporate statutory reporting department of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company preparing financial statements for multiple property and casualty companies. She completed her second co-op at Carey & Company, a forensic accounting firm located in the heart of Downtown Crossing. Her third and final co-op will be in Risk Advisory Services at Ernst & Young.
Outside of school, Stefanie is especially interested in sports. Throughout her life she has played for competitive teams in softball, basketball, and track. Stefanie also enjoys going to the beach in the summer, and loves to go for long runs around the city. She has done charity work for multiple organizations such as University Students Against Cancer and Mary Markley Lives of Commitment (both based out of Ann Arbor).
Her experience as part of NUHMC has been nothing short of rewarding thus far. Her competition group placed second at the Georgetown Business Strategy Challenge this February 2011. She looks forward to returning and winning first place there next year.

Martin Lemaire Finance Major; Math Minor Class of 2011

Born in Alaska, Martin grew up hunting and fishing with his family in a subsistence lifestyle. Following his graduation from high school, Martin spent a number of years traveling the world both domestic and abroad. Among his travels include a year of hitchhiking and a cross-country bicycle tour. For employment, Martin spent many years working on and off as a wilderness guide including guiding expeditions in rock climbing, mountaineering, slot canyoneering, spelunking, and river trips. While at Northeastern, Martin worked part time as a personal trainer and taught rock climbing classes at a local climbing gym where he served for two years as the manager.
Martin began his career at Northeastern studying international affairs but transferred to the College of Business Administration after his first year. He quickly found his place in the study of finance and has chosen to complement it with a minor in mathematics. Martin was placed in two coops during his time at Northeastern, the first at State Street as a portfolio accountant and the second at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as financial analyst in their public finance division. He joined Huntington Consulting Group as a junior and is planning on graduating in May 2011.

Gregory Milne Finance and Management Major Class of 2011

Gregory is a Finance and Management major in the College of Business Administration at Northeastern University. Currently a senior, Gregory manages his own company which is the product of his first co-op experience. He specializes in cyber attack mitigation as well as advanced threat removal services. Gregory has been trading equity securities for over two years and has a passion for investing. He is an active trader in the stock market with an interest in derivatives, especially equity options. He wishes to pursue a career that blends finance, technology, and strategy.

Spencer Murray Finance and Accounting Major; Economics Minor Class of 2012

Spencer is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration with concentrations in finance and accounting and a minor in economics. He is a member of the Class of 2012 and is also in the early stages of pursuing a CFA designation. Spencer interns at Goldman Sachs, where he has alternated between full-time and part-time positions around co-op and class since June 2009 in their securities lending division. He recently accepted a position in their Summer Analyst program with the Investment Banking Division and will begin working with their Leveraged Finance group in June. Prior to Goldman, he interned at Sysco Corporation in their credit department and was a field sales manager at Vector Marketing where he became the top earning sales representative in the Northern New England division over the 2007 summer sales campaign. An avid Patriots fan, fall is his favorite season. He enjoys spending time with his family on the beaches of the Cape, playing guitar, golfing, football, basketball and visiting Maine where he spent his childhood. Spencer is also a member of Beta Alpha Psi and the Finance and Investment Club at Northeastern. Outside of work and school, he is a mentor in the Big Brothers / Big Sisters program and enjoys spending time with his little brother. Spencer is a rookie to Northeastern University's Huntington Management Consulting this year and will be competing at Quinnipiac University in the APICS competition. Post graduation, Spencer is interested in pursuing his passion for finance through investment banking, with a long term goal of moving to private equity.

Rani Pimentel Entrepreneurship and Marketing Major Class of 2011

Rani Pimentel is a marketing and entrepreneurship major graduating in May 2011. Her first co-op was with a non-profit organization, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, in Harvard Square where she worked with both the marketing and campaign teams. She then switched gears to work at the five-diamond restaurant, L’Espalier, in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston. There she learned that she loved working in fast-paced, challenging environments. At the end of her 6-month co-op, she trained with the Maitre D’ and took a role as Manager until she departed for her study abroad experience in Thailand. For her last co-op, she worked at Shoebuy.com in downtown Boston. On the side, Rani has worked with Yelp.com and several student start-up companies involving marketing strategy and development.
Rani was recruited to Huntington Management Consulting her junior year, and participated in three competitions: winning 3rd place at APICS, 2nd place at Georgetown and 1st place at the Wake Forest Marketing Summit. She also co-planned the third and fourth annual NU Internal Business Case Competitions and worked to receive official Student Recognition for the team.

Shilpi Roongta Finance and Marketing Major; Spanish Minor Class of 2012

Shilpi Roongta is in her fourth year concentrating in Finance, Marketing and Social Entrepreneurship with minors in Spanish and International Relations. She completed her first co-op at Covidien, where she was responsible for multiple reports measuring the financial and logistical performance of national and international distrubution centers. Her second co-op was at Lexington Insurance, the largest surplus lines insurer in the U.S. Some of her responsibilities included production and management of webcasts and podcasts for brokers and industry experts and the development of content and presentations for executive meetings with brokers. Shilpi has also been an intern in the mutual funds office at Birla SunLife in Mumbai, India.
Outside of academics, Shilpi enjoys dancing, figure skating, reading traveling and volunteering as a Citizen Schools teacher and mentor to inner city middle school students in Roxbury, MA. She is also a very active member of Northeastern's Social Enterprise Institute, coordinating events and fundraisers. She has a deep passion for social entrepreneurship and microfinance as effective tools in the effort to improve the lives of the poor globally. She has been fortunate enough to see and study both first-hand during several extended field studies in Belize and the Dominican Republic. Shilpi will graduate in May of 2012 and looks forward to a career that not only incorporates this passion but also all that she has learned through NUHMC.

Christopher Rossignol Marketing and Finance Major Class of 2011

Christopher Rossignol, a member of Northeastern’s BSBA program, will be graduating in 2011 with a dual concentration in marketing and finance. Chris’ first foray into the corporate world began with his experience as a sales representative in Smithsonian Student Travel, a division of EF Education. At EF, he refined his abilities in sales and marketing, while simultaneously developing his networking and team-based skills. Chris’ second internship was at GE Aviation in Lynn, MA. While working under Jason Cherry, a member of the ‘99 Business Beanpot Team, Chris was able to build a strong financial foundation on which he can now confidently analyze revenue streams and cash flows to better understand what the drivers of financial growth are for a company. Chris’ participation in Northeastern University’s Huntington Management Consulting has allowed him to develop advanced analytical and teamwork skills under the constraints of a high-pressure environment, and has proven to be one of the most valuable experiences he has had at Northeastern. The culmination of his experience with NUHMC resulted in two second place victories at the Georgetown Business Strategy Challenge in 2010 and 2011, along with a first place victory at the Wake Forest Marketing Summit in February 2011. In addition to his passion for business, Chris has had a strong affiliation with theater, and is currently the President of Northeastern’s premier improvisational comedy group “NU & Improv’d.” Chris has always loved being in the limelight, and improv has enabled him to exploit this interest. Upon graduation, Chris will have nine years of improvisational comedy under his belt, and will transfer his ability to think on his feet and react to unconventional situations on the stage to the boardroom. He looks forward to his upcoming years as a business professional, optimally being able to focus on strategic marketing with a future employer. This division would allow him to combine both his strong analytical skills with his passion for innovative marketing.

Andrew Rothbaum Finance and Accounting Major Class of 2011

Andrew Rothbaum is a senior business major at Northeastern University, with concentrations in Finance and Accounting. He will be returning for his second year with the Huntington Consulting Group. His co-op experience includes positions with General Electric, where he was on the financial planning and analysis team for their private equity group, and Wellington Management, a private institutional investor where he was on the marketing Information team. He is currently working as an analyst for Hercules Technology Growth Capital, a venture capital firm based in Boston. Andrew’s interests include writing and playing music on the guitar and piano. He has had the opportunity to perform in Northeastern’s Blues/Rock ensemble as an electric guitar player. He also enjoys sports, traveling, and investing. He will be graduating in May 2011.

Nicholas Sammut Class of 2011 Finance and Marketing Major; Technological Entrepreneurship Minor

Nick came to Northeastern University in 2006 and began working toward a BS degree in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Finance and Marketing and a minor in Technological Entrepreneurship. Prior to the Huntington Consulting Group, Nick competed on the Northeastern Men’s Rowing team.
Throughout the past four years, Nick has held various positions outside the University. In 2008, he worked with Merrill Lynch’s Global Markets and Investment Banking Group in New York as a Structured Products Analyst for the Latin America team. Then, he was an Investment Analyst for Hercules Technology Growth Capital in Palo Alto, California, a venture capital firm specializing in debt financing for early and late stage companies in the health sciences and technology industries. In spring 2010, he held the role as Co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of Inter-Disciplinary Entrepreneurship Accelerator (IDEA). Here, Nick developed the organization's method to evaluating start-up companies using a risk management framework. Following this role, he joined Goldman Sachs & Co. as an Equities Analyst in New York. During fall 2010, Nick will hold a Fellowship position at Princeton University's MIRTHE, or Mid-InfraRed Technologies for Health and the Environment, a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center. During this time he will be a member of the Investment Focus Group, an interdisciplinary team of engineers, chemists, physicists, bioengineers and medical doctors working to create profitable product lines, new revenue streams, and attractive opportunities for corporate and venture capital investment. Nick will graduate from Northeastern in May, 2011.

Kavita Singh Finance and Math Major Class of 2012

Kavita Singh is currently a fourth year finance and mathematics dual major at Northeastern University. Her co-op experiences include positions with Lexington Insurance Company and The Boston Consulting Group, both roles having been in accounting and international accounting respectively. She is currently preparing to take the first actuarial exam as she is hoping to pursue a career in this field post- graduation. Kavita was a competitive hurdler and still enjoys running and different types of exercise. Her other interests include playing the violin and piano, writing and listening to music, and reading. Kavita will graduate in May of 2012.

Dan Wittstein Supply Chain Major; Industrial Engineering Minor Class of 2011

Dan Wittstein is a supply chain management student at Northeastern’s College of Business Administration. Through a wide spectrum of coursework, co-op experience and independent ventures, Dan has been exposed to several areas within his major. After his first co-op with Gexpro Services in Irving, Texas, Dan decided to add an industrial engineering minor to his degree. At Gexpro, he worked with the implementation team developing and supporting efficient vendor managed inventory systems for manufacturers and government contractors nationwide. This experience prompted him to take the theoretical applications of his supply chain major and couple it with the analytical focus of an industrial engineering minor. Dan is currently working on inventory planning and forecasting projects for Staples North American Delivery and will graduate in the fall of 2011.
Aside from his education and work experience, Dan loves to sail and races for the Northeastern Sailing Team. He is also a harmonica player, likes 1980’s music, and enjoys traveling. Dan completed a summer dialogue program in Seville, Spain in 2009 and hopes to spend time working and living abroad in the future.
Beyond graduation, Dan is looking to work in supply chain or operations consulting. He is currently looking to interview with national consulting firms of all sizes and markets. Ideally, he would like to specialize in inventory management, resource efficiency and continuous improvement efforts.
